For me, spring is always the season I’m least inspired by, fashion-wise. Perhaps because of this, it’s my least favorite season in general. This spring with it’s peppering of unusually cold weather has given me the excuse to kind of keep wearing what I wore this winter, for the most part. I’ve been perfectly happy the last couple months still wearing black tights here and there, my corduroys, and lots of black and brown. And really…just a lot of the same things, worn in slightly different ways. But, that tends to be how I dress, I really wear things a lot…until I don’t, whether it’s for a few weeks or months or years.
For example the leopard print scarves I purchased this winter and wore around my neck, have also been worn in many an outfit as a belt (see my Palm Beach newsletter and photos below) and will be living on my basket bag this summer. My hope is that this shows how these items evolve from season to season, how they can be worn from place to place, and in a variety of ways, and therefore why I suggest investing in them. The reality is I’m definitely not buying a new wardrobe for every newsletter; but I am a consistent shopper (or at least surveyor of the shopping scene) who tries to thoughtfully invest in clothing and accessories across a wide spectrum of sources from vintage to second hand to independent designers to major fashion brands, across a wide range of prices. Small purchases here and there keep larger investment pieces feeling fresh and of the moment. Cycle in and cycle out.
Anyway, all of this is to say that I had a kind of lazy spring and really, I’m just waiting it out for summer.
Some recent outfits below followed by the first smattering of a summer mood starting with color palette and accessories.
