I have a (loose) formula that I follow when packing for a place. This method is for creating a cohesive vibe while you are away that really feels right to your location, and for making it easy to come up with different and compelling combinations using what you’ve brought.

I love to immerse myself in a culture or place. What I wear is a big part of that.

Disclaimer: This is not advice for how to pack for a trip in just a carry on suitcase. At the same time I think it decreases your chances of overpacking (it’s not a good feeling to be lugging around more than you will wear). And while I understand the desire and sometimes necessity of packing as minimally as possible in certain situations, I believe that when you can, bring what you want.
